My Friends

Artists
Renegades
Mamas
Speechers
Mic checkers
People evolvers
Stars of many skies
Suns
Life givers
Spark makers
Bright
Bright
Bright.

One Day

I will return to mother
Beyond the stars
Beyond dark nights
Beyond days where
I may have seen her
In the morning mist
Before one is fully awake
I will tell her
About my journey
About how hard it was
To not come running
After her so many years ago
When she made her way
Through the veil
Without me
One day
I will return to mother
I will lay my head down
Upon her lap
She will give me the peace
I have sought
Soothing all those years
Without her
That were like lightning
Striking upon the doors
Of my sad heart
One day
When I return to mother
I will finally be able
To sleep
Through the night.

Secret to Happiness

Is
Gratitude
When I forget this
I despair
But
When I remember
Everything
Is glorified
And new.

Royal Pain

Put down the gauntlet
Hero to yourself
There is no mountain
To crest
The range is long
This is but a
Low hill
Long haul
No use
Puffing out
Hollow cage
Wasting air
Hollow journey
No one is important
Not even you.

Simplicity

Things were simpler
Way back when
There were trees
Touched lightly
Kissed by breeze
Nothing was mowed
Chopped or burned
The world would turn
Simply
We had only
One another
Before They came
Made other plans
Cut down the trees
Poisoned the breeze
Tore up the roots
Burned everything else
The world still turns
But everything
So much more complex
Unnecessary
Where has it all gone?

Magic Keys

Just because
They're invisible
Does not mean
They do not exist
Your eyes
Are for one dimension
Your hopes
For another
Our wishes
Create manifestation
Maybe you'll get
What you want
Maybe you'll get
What you didn't know
You wanted
Magic keys
Are everywhere
But they do not unlock
You unlock
Them
You are the key
They are the unlocking
Of You
As you are now
Be free
And see
The veil is thin
Do not be thick
See?

Hate Machine

Hate
Poisons everything
A machine
Without organic parts
A beating heart
From
Human
To
Part machine
To
Full machine
A
Hate machine
Oh
The sights I've seen
From the journey
Spurned by
Hard-won knowledge
I set forth
To set right
That which was
Wronged
But along that path
Rocks jut out
Cut me
I cut back
Took my own
Beautiful energy
Squandered it
Focusing on pebbles
Small outcroppings
Losing sight
Of the mountain
I can no longer
Put oil
Into that machine
It is not mine
It is not mine
It is not me.

Journey

'Tis better to have lived free
than to have run from your soul
  an entire lifetime.
The fight for continued justice
  is ever-present, never safe
  and so very fulfilling.
To have lived in Love and Courage
is the better choice than to have died
Wondering if one had ever lived at all.

Do What You Gotta Do

In the flood
Swim
In the storm
Shelter
In the sun
Rise
In the dark
Light
In your heart
Sing
In your soul
Shine
Shine
Shine.

Poets

A true poet
Never rests
Is never spared
Suffering
Can never dig
Deep enough
Though lava flows
Though bombs explode
There they are
Walking over mines
A thousand times.

Encapsulate

Echo Echo Echo
Reverb
Reciprocity
Agony
Joy
Pain
Sadness
Gratitude
Echo Echo Echo

Comet

Blazing across the sky
Before or long after
We have ever seen
Or will see
The real time light
But it has traveled so far
To show us
Brilliance
Marvelous show
Of time
Of space
Of beauty
One moment
Of looking down
At a shoe in a puddle
Seeing the beginning
Of hope reflected
In the smooth glass
Of water
Of the dark sky
Oh, look up
And see it
Marvel at the gift!

Jumping Ship

Daddy
You ran the ship aground
Expecting me to paddle
In the dirt
I tried to dredge up rocks
To make us go forward
So loyal
So naive
So hopeful
But we just went deeper
Into darkness
I kept looking up
Seeing the sun
On the horizon
On the smooth glass water
I want a ship of my own
Me as captain at the helm
Mighty and powerful
To reach that horizon
Without you
Into the next day
And the next
And the next
There will be no anchor
Only propulsion
No weighty drag.

Words

Oh, they are only words
Ones that made me lurch forward
From the seat of my soul
Oh, these words
Ones of beauty and hope
I reach out for you
Like my own mother's hands
Pulling you close
Keeping you in my heart
So that in the days to come
My feet will continue
To move forward
In the direction
Of light and progress.

Deep End

Most people think
The edge is the end
But it's where the sun rises
Where it goes further on
In the evenings too
To rest
To bring forth life
To cover our world
In light
Most people think
The end is final
But it's only
The beginning.
